Skool vs Circle: Why I Moved from Circle to Skool

If you're comparing Skool vs Circle for hosting your online courses, memberships, or coaching communities, you're not alone. I recently moved all of my programs off of Circle and into Skool - and in this post, I’m sharing exactly why I made that switch, what changed in my business as a result, and what you should know before choosing a platform.

Skool vs Circle: Why I Moved from Circle to Skool

Why I Chose Circle in the First Place

After years of using Kajabi for my courses and Telegram for community support, I knew I needed a true all-in-one platform. Circle seemed like the perfect solution: clean design, flexible options, and feature-rich functionality. I was excited by the potential and dove in with a premium plan, AI features, and multiple programs hosted inside.

But within just a few months, the cracks started to show.

The Problems I Faced on Circle

Despite thoughtful onboarding, tutorials, and set-up, here’s what I experienced:

  • Engagement dropped significantly — Clients who previously posted regularly became quiet.

  • Perfectionism blocks — Members said they felt like posts had to be polished, pretty, and "worthy" before sharing.

  • Admin overload — The sheer number of decisions (banner images, formatting, post structure) slowed me down.

  • Confusing calendars — Clients were constantly confused about which events they had access to and how to RSVP.

  • Customer support time increased — I fielded more DMs and questions than ever.

As a solo business owner and mom of three, the mental load was becoming too much.

Why I Moved to Skool

Here’s what stood out about Skool and why I ultimately made the switch:

  • Massively improved engagement – Clients instantly started commenting, posting, and showing up again.

  • Simple, intuitive UX – It feels like the “good old days” of Facebook Groups (but better).

  • One clean community feed – No segments or silos. Everyone sees the same thing.

  • Streamlined event setup – Add a calendar event in seconds, no mess.

  • Mobile-friendly everything – I can manage replays, curriculum, and posts from my phone.

  • Lower admin load – I spend less time managing tech and more time supporting clients.

Plus, my clients love it so much they’re now launching Skool communities of their own.

Results Since Switching from Circle to Skool

Since making the move:

  • Engagement is up across the board

  • Call attendance skyrocketed (80% live on a recent group call!)

  • Clients are interacting more with each other

  • I spend far less time in the weeds with tech

  • I'm happier and more energized showing up for my business

Even better? The transition to Skool was smoother and more well-received than my previous move from Telegram to Circle.

What About Skool’s Limitations?

Let’s be honest: no platform is perfect. Skool does have some constraints, including:

  • No scheduled posts (intentionally — to protect community integrity)

  • No post-approval before publishing

  • One shared community feed (no segmented channels)

But personally, I’ve found these constraints to be a feature, not a bug. They’ve helped me simplify, focus on what matters, and let go of overthinking. And if you need multiple communities, Skool now offers a $9/month plan for additional groups.

Final Thoughts: Should You Switch to Skool?

If you want a platform that:

  • Encourages real engagement

  • Keeps things simple and intuitive

  • Reduces mental load

  • Supports you as a course creator, coach, or community leader

...then Skool is absolutely worth considering.
