Why I'm Starting The Productive Life Podcast

For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on something behind the scenes.

And I realized a few days ago that it is time I let you in on the secret:

I’m starting a podcast!

So what’s going to happen to my YouTube channel?

Don’t get me wrong, I love YouTube and it has done wonders for my business.

I still 100% believe that having a YouTube channel is an amazing decision for your business.

In fact, I credit YouTube with the fact that my side hustle made over $45k in 2018 alone. And that was without posting content regularly.

But I have struggled to publish content on YouTube consistently.

And I’m not proud of that.

I made a commitment to myself to create and share consistently and I want to follow through on that commitment.

As much as I love creating videos, it is a time-consuming way to create content.

Between planning the videos, setting up, getting ready, recording, editing, and uploading, it takes all of my spare time during the week to publish one single video.

And in order to get ahead of schedule, I’d have to stay up really late during the week, neglect my relationships, and work all day on the weekends.

Honestly…

I’m just not willing to sacrifice my health and happiness for YouTube.

I have been feeling for a while now that there must be an easier way.

My goal is to be more vulnerable with you.

I have pages of ideas and things I want to share - both personal and business - but I’ve struggled to get them out there.

When I sent out a survey a few weeks ago I also learned that I haven’t done a very good job of sharing myself with you.

You don’t know who I am.

You don’t know what I do.

And you don’t know anything about me.

Because I’ve never shared that on YouTube or my blog.

The fact of the matter is that I struggle with being vulnerable on YouTube.

So many creators share very openly on YouTube and I respect them so much for that.

For some reason, I just can’t seem to do that.

I have a strong mental block to sharing personal updates, in the moment struggles, and make that connection on YouTube videos.

Even when I try, I always end up editing myself down to be less personable and vulnerable.

Things just feel so permanent on YouTube to me.

And the thing is, I want to be vulnerable with you.

2019 has already been full of heartbreak and struggles and big decisions and I’ve been keeping them to myself.

There have been lessons learned and questions I’ve asked and life updates that I haven’t shared.

And I want to share them.

I also want to share really helpful, actionable content with you every single week.

So that’s why I’m starting a podcast.

What to expect on the podcast!

I believe that podcasting will be the medium that allows me to open up and share things with you.

Not only will a podcast allow me to be vulnerable and transparent with you, I know it will be a medium that allows me to share content with you every single week.

I have co-hosted a podcast before and have found it to be such a fun medium to create in.

I can sit down and just record a conversation I’m having with you.

Minimal editing. No video.

I’ll be able to share what is going on in my life like we are friends talking over a glass of wine at my favorite restaurant.

And I’m definitely going to be interviewing some of my incredible entrepreneurial friends who have so much to share and value to give to you.

On the podcast, I’ll be talking about productivity, time management, organization, business strategies, wellness, self-care, personal development, lessons learned, personal updates, and life as a side hustler/solopreneur/small business owner/entrepreneur.

I’m recording my first few episodes this week and I can’t wait to get this podcast out there as soon as possible!

I’m not doing a full-blown launch with all of the bells and whistles because my goal is to just start.

Start imperfectly. And start quickly.

And don’t worry, I won’t be leaving YouTube behind forever…

Each podcast episode will be published to YouTube and I will still be creating one-off videos and publishing them to YouTube periodically.

I hope you’re as excited about this as I am and I can’t wait to start connecting with you more closely and consistently.

I’ll be sharing more details about the podcast soon, so make sure you’re signed up to receive emails from me and be sure to follow me on Instagram stories to get some behind the scenes of how I’m launching this podcast over the coming weeks!
