Getting in someone’s email inbox is hard enough...

So it’s important that when one of your readers opens an email from you, they know instantly who it's from so they'll keep reading what you have to say.

What are the essential things your emails need in order to be recognizable and memorable?

In this video, I'm going to go over the three things your emails need, how to add them to your emails, and how I customize my own email templates.

Have you ever opened an email and had no idea who in the world the sender was?

You’re almost positive you opted in for their newsletter, but you can’t figure out who they are, what they do, and why you signed up in the first place.

So what did you do?

Let me guess:

You unsubscribed. I know, I've done this too!

But it doesn't have to be this way. With branded emails being sent to your readers, they'll instantly know who it's from and will be less tempted to hit that nasty unsubscribe button.

How can you get that instant recognition with your readers?

There are three essential elements your emails need to build that memorability and recognition with your readers:

Essential #1: Recognizable Name

Creating a recognizable name in your emails is the first thing you need to focus on.

Whether it is your personal name, website name, or business name, be sure people can find it quickly when opening and reading your emails.

One way that I do this is by signing all of my emails the same: xo, Megan.

By signing my emails with "xo, Megan" it starts to build that personal connection and recognition with my community.

There are a lot of different ways you could include your personal name, website name, or business name in your emails. Get creative!

Essential #2: Recognizable Imagery

Having consistent imagery is the fastest way to build at-a-glance recognition with your readers.

One way I do this is by including an image banner on all of my emails that include my business logo and a picture of my face.

Since my business name is also my name, this helps create a recognizable name as well.

I created my email banner in Canva, so you don't have to have a designer on your team to create something similar.

Another option is to just include a picture of your face near the bottom of your emails. You can see an example of how Tara Gentile does this in her emails below:

Essential #3: Recognizable Brand

The final piece of the puzzle is having a brand that is recognizable.

You can do this by customizing the font styling and formatting of your emails.

Make sure your fonts, font colors, and overall formatting is consistent with your brand presence - across all of your emails!

You can see how I've done this in my emails by using my brand's signature orange color for buttons and links.

The easiest way to do all of this is through a branded email template.

Depending on what email marketing system you use, you should be able to customize your default email template to include several of these elements for you!

With the email marketing system I use, ConvertKit, you can do this by creating a custom email template.

Creating a custom email template in ConvertKit isn't hard, but if you're not familiar with HTML or CSS it can seem a little intimidating at first.
