3 Big Myths About Private Coaching Holding You Back 🤫

As someone who has been a Business Coach since 2017, it’s always so hard to see the different assumptions people make about what it takes to become a coach themselves.

In fact, some of the most accomplished and wise women I’ve known have doubted if they could really offer private coaching because of some myth or misconception they had about coaching. 🤯

But just a heads up:

Sometimes these “myths” are actually just excuses people use to never take action in the first place…

And I don’t want you to stay stuck in that spot anymore!

So if you’re sitting there saying to yourself “I want to offer coaching BUT…” then you need to keep reading. 👀

Because I’m here to clear up some of the biggest myths and misunderstandings that I see when it comes to being a private coach.

đźš« Myth 1: You should focus on passive income, not coaching.

Look… I love courses, digital products, and passive income as much as the next person…

But it takes time to establish yourself as an expert, build a community, and have the volume it takes to make meaningful amounts of money from passive products.

I believe it is 100% WORTH IT to work on the passive side of your business… but I don’t want you to wait years before you start making money in your business.

And let’s be real: Sometimes you want (or need!) a cash injection in your business.

That’s why I believe anyone starting out in business or looking to increase cash flow, should 100% offer private coaching while you work on the courses and digital products on the side.

Not only is private coaching incredibly lucrative and unbelievably profitable… it’s also SO FULFILLING!!

Private coaching allows you to feel the impact you have on your clients in a way that courses and digital products just never will.

Don't believe me?

There’s a reason so many multi-6 and 7-figure entrepreneurs continue to offer private coaching…

Because it is FUN!

So let’s get this myth straight once and for all:

Offering private coaching allows you to get the cash flowing, so you can then take your time building up your passive products and community on the side.

đźš« Myth 2: Private coaching is too time consuming and will burn you out.

Whether this is something you’ve experienced in the past, heard another entrepreneur talk about, or just worried about because of the season of life you’re in right now… I get it.

But the good news is that:

When you set up your private coaching intentionally - and make sure it is aligned with your current bandwidth - then you’ll never feel burned out by your private coaching clients.

That’s why in my new course, Private Coaching Launch Kit, I actually teach 3 different types of private coaching offers that you can utilize based on how much time you want to spend working with clients privately.

There may be some seasons of life where you offer all 3 types of private coaching… and others where you offer only 1.

But the best part?

These 3 types of coaching offers (one-off intensives, asynchronous coaching, and long-term mentorship) can actually work really well together as one continuous client journey so your dream clients can keep working with you - over and over again!

So let’s clear up this myth too:

When you design your Private Coaching offers in alignment with your season of life, then you’ll never have to worry about burning out.

đźš« Myth 3: You need to be certified to be a private coach.

Okay, let’s address this one head on:

You do not need to be certified to be a private coach.

Do I think certification programs are incredibly valuable and can increase your impact as a coach? Yes!

But do you need to wait to complete a certification program before you start coaching? No!

The key thing is always operating from a place of integrity.

If you’re here, in my community, and reading this email, I’m going to assume that you’re a good person with good intentions!

You want to help people overcome a challenge in their lives and you want to help them find success in whatever it is they’re working towards.

As long as you genuinely want to help them and have credible experience or the skills to guide them on this journey… then you are ready to start coaching!

And can I be honest for a minute?

The clients of mine who have felt like they had to wait to get certified before they started coaching…

They were 100% just holding themselves back out of fear.

(If you’ve been a client of mine then you know I’ve called you out on this… love you, mean it!!)

I’ve found that this myth - above all others - is the one most people use as an excuse to not move forward.

This idea that your lived experience, your innate abilities, or your hard-earned skills aren’t enough to start helping people is just wrong.

It’s you being afraid to put yourself out there, to be vulnerable, and to call yourself an expert in something.

I GET IT!

Everyone feels nervous when they first start coaching or doing anything new. It’s normal!

But the only way to move forward is to move through it and to take action WHILE being afraid.

To call yourself a coach even when your brain freaks out and says you don’t know enough yet (even when you know you do!).

So let me take this opportunity to do what I love doing best with my private clients:

I’m giving you a little “love and shove.”
